On Monday, July 15, 2002, Contraband Detection Canine Services was pleased to announce its Explosives Detector Dog (EDD) Program. Our program is designed to support public and private sector entities in the screening for explosive devices in nearly any environment.
In support of public policy, we assist corporations, public and private venues, educators, manufacturing, refineries and pipe lines, persons-at-risk, and numerous other entities with a specific, proactive tool designed to minimize the potential of dangerous environments or situations. We must seek new approaches and methodologies that are efficient yet cost effective. Our EDD program provides this capability.
Our newest member, Franko, joined our team on August 1, 2003. He finished his training at the prestigious Highland Detection Dog training facility in Edgefield, South Carolina. Our trainers searched far and wide to locate the best qualified candidate for our needs. Franko was chosen from a premier blood line of Belgian Malinois in Europe and imported to the Highland Detection Dog kennels. EDD Franko is trained and certified to find all commonly used commercial and military explosives, combinations or compounds, and mixtures. An EDD is the best single method to search for explosive devices. The combination of an EDD along with a realistic threat assessment, education and training of line and supervisory personnel, and the development of safety protocols, allows for the most comprehensive protection available. Our handler/dog teams are certified by the International Detection Canine Foundation. We are charter members of the International Explosive Detection Dog Association. Mike Canaan is a Certifying Official with the International Detection Canine Foundation. We are registered with the United States Drug Enforcement Administration as well as the State of Washington Board of Pharmacy. We also have a Special Permit with the State of Washington Liquor Control Board. Our Contraband Dog handlers are trained in presumptive narcotics testing by VALTOX Laboratories of Sacramento, CA. You have questions? ...well, we have answers. Visit our Contraband Detection Canine Services Contraband Frequently Asked Questions or Explosives Frequently Asked Questions page.
