OUR INSTRUCTORS:

Michael J. Canaan, CPP, Board Certified in Security Management-Certified Protection Professional; Professional Protection Specialist; Certified Contraband and Explosive Detection Dog Handler; Certifying Working Dog Official; Legal Investigator; and Security Consultant as President of Trident Investigative Service, Inc., Corporate Special Services, and Contraband Detection Canine Services since 1991. Areas of expertise related to executive and personal protection include, but are not limited to electronic countermeasures and proprietary information loss; surveillance and surveillance detection; employee termination security—workplace violence prevention; background research and protective intelligence; security surveys, risk and vulnerability assessments; firearm instruction as well as specialized covert video (CCTV), photographic and video surveillance. Mr. Canaan served on the protective detail with Helicopter Marine Squadron One, the Presidential helicopter Unit, during the Carter administration. He has attended numerous FBI, State Department, and Secret Service firearms instruction courses. Mr. Canaan is a Certified Peace Officer and Firearms (Handgun, Shotgun and Patrol Rifle) Instructor with the WA State Criminal Justice Training Commission as well as recent a graduate of the Heckler and Koch Law Enforcement Instructor Course; Certified TASER Instructor; Certified Expandable Baton Instructor; and Certified OC instructor.

Master Chief Richard R. Peters, USN (Ret.), has over 35 years of combined experience in the following areas; Basic Underwater Demolition/Seal Training; USN Diver First Class/Diving Supervisor; USN Diver Second Class/Diving Supervisor; Advanced Naval Parachutist; Basic Quartermaster Ships Navigation; Intelligence in Terrorism/Counteraction; Counterinsurgency/Self Protection (SERE Training); Tracking; Survival; Jungle Warfare; Winter Warfare; Desert Survival; Mountain Climbing; Submarine Escape Training; Basic Radio Communication; Small Arms Weapon Expert Marksman and Instructor; Improvised Demolition; Hand-to-Hand Combat instructor; Airline Transport Pilot in fixed and rotary wing aircraft. Mr. Peters served with SEAL Team 2 and as plank owner of SEAL Team 6. Mr. Peters is currently a Director of Security of a full-time executive protection team.

Donald Tardiff is a former Centralia, WA Police Officer, SWAT Team Member and Patrol Dog Handler. Mr. Tardiff is currently Vice President of Western Washington Merchant Patrol and is a Certified Firearms Instructor with the WA State Criminal Justice Training Commission as well as a recent graduate of the Heckler and Koch Law Enforcement Instructor Course.
